THE ULTIMATE BREAKTHROUGH: How to Become Change-Driven in 2011

On January 11, 2011 (1-11-11) a date that is visually interesting, not to mention that it is also a lucky day according to numerology, I will be conducting my first motivational seminar for the year. I will be speaking in the annual convention of sales agents who belong to a real estate conglomerate that is undergoing a major overhaul.
Recently, sixty percent of the ownership of the company was acquired by the maverick businessman and property magnate Andrew Tan of Megaworld through fresh capital infusion. With a new management coming in and a looming re-organization along the way, everyone in the company is apprehensive about the impending radical and big changes that will happen in the soonest possible time.
Even before the above acquisition took place, the unexpected wave of change already took a toll on the whole of real estate industry with the implementation of the RESA Law, a new legislation that took effect last year intended to regulate the practice of real estate service in the Philippines. As they move from one transition to another, it makes things difficult for the people who are affected to deal with change every time it hits them the least they expect it.
Change unfolds in lightning speed. The need to deal with it has become inevitable. Those who refuse to embrace and resist it will surely be left behind. If you are an employee, you might end up losing your job one day if you cannot cope with the present and future demands of your job. If you are in business, you will be outperformed by your competitor or just wake up one morning with your company no longer in your control. In other words, if you move slower than the pace change is happening, you will become obsolete. Or worse, you will be flushed out.

WHY DO PEOPLE RESIST CHANGE?
Comes January 21, I will be in Boracay to perform a similar role as resource speaker of the Commission of Human Rights (CHR) during its annual Directorate Conference. My mission: to convince and motivate their regional directors who are hardcore lawyers to go out of their comfort zone and become prime movers of change in support of a technology-based information system that the agency wants to fully implement. I have a feeling that I will be accused of libel or alarm and scandal because my audience might not like the things I will discuss during the seminar.
This is what will happen if you are confronted with change – you will start to feel uncomfortable. That is why the first challenge in dealing with change is not the change process itself but how you react to it. Resistance becomes a natural tendency among people who are required to adapt to change or implement a new system because they are trying to protect their comfort zone. Most people preserve their source of comfort and fight any situation that creates discomfort. Why? Because the most basic need of every human being is SURVIVAL! People do not want to change if everything around seems okay. In other words, as long as there is nothing that threatens their survival, they do not see the need for change.

HOW TO DRIVE CHANGE
The key to driving change that involves people is to “disturb their comfort zone.” They need to realize that while everything seems OK for now, their survival is already critical in the near future. The way to do it requires that we address their mindset at the subconscious level. We need to uncover the old paradigms they hold on and cling to as absolute truth. That makes unlearning as important as learning. As an old saying goes, “you cannot fill a glass of water when it’s already full.”
A new paradigm is required in dealing with change.  Even if it involves technology, the most important component of change is still the human intervention.  As catalysts of change, human beings need to understand that they have the power to effect change only if they are willing to change themselves. That is how real change can happen. Mahatma Gandhi said it well: “You need to be the change that you want to see in the world.”
In my seminars, I teach three essential human components required for a change process to succeed. First, emotion must be clear. Second, decision must be certain. And third, action must be compelling.  I call this the 3 pillars of successful change. All these must work in harmony so that desired result is achieved.

BREAKTHROUGH IS POSSIBLE
Real breakthrough among individuals, teams and organizations can happen once the above conditions are satisfied. One would be ready to unleash the ultimate source of his personal power that leads to breakthrough results if all the barriers to change no longer exist.

This is also the secret of world-class achievers like our very own people’s champ, Congressman Manny Pacquiao. When Pacquiao decided to move up in weight and take his career to the next level, he needed to let go of his old style in order to overcome his weaknesses, learn new counter punching skills, develop stronger punching power and gain more speed. What took place in him was not a dramatic change but a transformational growth. Far greater than what he has accomplished is what he has become. That is what I call -- ULTIMATE BREAKTHROUGH!

KNOW-HOW and KNOW-WHEN to Breakthrough

Last month, I had two major learning experiences that substantially contributed to my personal and professional growth.
First and foremost is the rare chance of being able to attend a live seminar from one of the greatest success coaches in the world, motivational speaker, and best-selling author Jack Canfield. Aside from his highly rated books such as Success Principles and Chicken Soup for the Soul, Jack Canfield was also one of the featured speakers on law of attraction who appeared in the worldwide movie hit The Secret, together with Bob Proctor, Bob Doyle, John Assaraf, and many more.
Secondly, as part of my learning habits to read at least two books every month, I came across one of the Dare to Fail book-series of Asian author and avant-garde thinker Bili S. Lim. The title of the book is From Kia-su (Fear of Risk) Economy to Knowledge-Based Economy. Written and published in year 2000, the book dramatically portrays economic trends and business forces in the 21st century that continue to shape the future of organizations and entrepreneurs in Asia and the rest of the world. Through his book, Bili Lim offers revolutionary advise and business strategies on how to thrive (not just survive) during crisis, how to explore opportunities in the face of uncertainties and how to radically create phenomenal success in today’s information age.
THE WEST MERGES WITH THE EAST
An interesting conjunction of ideas can be learned from the two authors. This idea is crucial in making a breakthrough result happen. I consider this as a fitting marriage between Canfield’s success principles from the West and Lim’s hard-knocks wisdom from the East.
Jack Canfield talked all too well about how to apply time-tested success principles that will lead to breakthrough at work and in life. We will call it the ‘KNOW-HOW’. Bili Lim, on the other hand, wrote about how to make a breakthrough idea work in its most applicable time and capitalize on it in an environment of rapid change. This we will call the ‘KNOW-WHEN’.
The two authors touched-base on the ground of common understanding how a breakthrough in life, from a mere possibility, can become a practical reality at any given time. Canfield focuses on how to apply success principles that create breakthrough while Lim relates when is the best time to apply them in order to maximise breakthrough results.

KNOW-HOW PLUS KNOW-WHEN
Breakthrough success, therefore, is both know-how and know-when. This is what I teach wannabe empreneurs (employee-entrepreneurs) in my breakthrough seminars. The way to capitalize on every business opportunity within and outside the confines of one’s present job is to know how to master the trade, look for clues from experts in the company, model effective leaders, take note of the strategies that work and prepare to apply them for yourself at the most appropriate time.

I have seen positive results from entrepreneurial endeavours of successful empreneurs who followed the same pattern. For example, the advent of food cart business three years ago which continues up to now has defined new directions for the working class to pursue proven and tested business ventures in the franchise industry.  It has already become a copy-paste business model for small business players who used to be professional employees.
The same trend has emerged involving young and aggressive network marketers whose primary consideration in joining network marketing business, aside from the proven and tested marketing system of the company, is impeccable timing in the current demand for health and wellness products.

How-to and when-to concept complement each other. It is not just a breakthrough principle but a core process that you will learn from this blog. In a couple of days, we will start the ball rolling by giving you specific steps on how to make a breakthrough at work and in life. I will also teach you how to spot observable patterns from the past and how market forces and change unfold so radically fast, through which breakthrough business opportunities are created. With a balanced combination of proper timing and the right strategy, breakthrough happens when opportunity and preparedness meet together.

This reminds me of the story of an American general who once had trouble with his car while driving along a deserted road in Afghanistan. The vehicle wouldn’t start because of engine failure. After several hours of trying to fix it, the American got a sigh of relief as he asked the help of an Afghan native who happened to pass by.

Shortly after checking the engine, the man yelled: “There’s nothing wrong with the engine. Let’s just give it a push.” He then sat on the driver’s seat and asked the American to push the car from behind. As the car slowly gained momentum, the Afghan hit the ignition key and, alas! The car’s engine roared.

“You’re a genius,” said the American. With much delight, he asked the Afghan: “How much should I pay you?” The native answered right away. “One hundred dollars, sir.” “ What? That’s too high a fee for a simple mechanical job. I even helped you push the car,” the American whined.

“You’re right, sir. It was a simple thing to know how to fix your car’s engine. That’s only one percent. And for that my charge is only $1.00,” the Afghan said.
Taken aback by the imposing confidence that the native has gained, the American asked: “How about the remaining $99.00. What is that charge for?”

“Oh, you mean the remaining ninety nine percent? That is for knowing when to hit the ignition key.”

I will leave you with this quote from an Indian poet: "Do TODAY what you plan to do tomorrow. Do NOW what you plan to do today. In a fraction of a second the world can end so when will you do what you have to?"

Are You Ready To Breakthrough?

Dear Friend,

Welcome to a new paradigm and practical application of personal success discipline!

My name is JUN PRILA. I am a professional trainer, motivational speaker, sales and marketing consultant and the only practitioner of breakthrough success philosophy in the Philippines. I dedicate this blog to millions of Filipinos all over the world who want the best in life. I will give you a preview of what you can expect from the articles I will publish from this writing.

WHY I CAME UP WITH THIS BLOG?
If you have worked hard long enough and has given all you have got but you are still struggling in life, this blog is for you. If you have already tried several ways to improve your financial condition but you are still haunted by the same money problems you have had before, this discourse will help create an improvement niche for you. If you have not yet realized the dreams you set for yourself and your love ones despite of your endless search for get-rich-quick opportunities, this forum is a big help to you. If you want more out of life-- more contentment and happiness, higher income and financial freedom, better relationship, growth in career, business and even in your spirituality,  but you still live with less at present, you will appreciate most the lessons and ideas that I will share with you in this site.

WE WILL JOURNEY TOGETHER IN A NEW SUCCESS ZONE
Your present situation and status in life does not matter at all. But in order for you to experience a great breakthrough in life, you must be willing to change your present status quo dramatically. Deconstructing the present will be our kick-off point. Being comfortable with your present condition is like a kiss of death to success. Remember this: real breakthrough is waiting for you outside your comfort zone. So you need to move from your present "just-getting-by" zone to a new "success-defining" zone. In this endeavor change will become an inevitable breakthrough process.

You might be thinking as early as now that this is a difficult discipline to pursue. But let me give you an assurance. Yes, it is very much doable. In fact, we can make a breakthrough change process happen in an instant. Like a snap of a finger, it can be done by following specific breakthrough steps inherent in every human being.  I have applied them in my career as an employee-entrepreneur, in my own sales and marketing business, followed them as a physical and health discipline and made them work in nurturing healthy relationships. Believe me as I tell you now, the results are simply amazing!

WHO CAN APPLY THE BREAKTHROUGH PRINCIPLES?
Making a breakthrough principle work does not require a special set of skills or higher level of experience. It can be applied by anyone, in any job or endeavor for as long as he is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve all the results that he desires.

Breakthrough principles can be applied by an individual athlete or group of athletes who are burning down in their performance and struggling to make it to the championship. This process will also work with someone who wishes to lose weight, build his muscle, or achive the ever wanted sexy body despite of frustration with things that did not work in the past.

These principles and process will work with a couple whose marriage or relationship is in the brink of collapsing. These same principles can help save the life of a problematic child or adult who is about to commit suicide.

One can apply the very principles on how to make a breakthrough in life if he is about to give up on his business because he thinks he doesn't have the resources to pursue bigger returns.

And most of all, breakthrough principles will always work if applied by someone, who because of any tragic event or terrible experience, is so devastated, have lost hope and is left alone.

WHEN DO WE NEED IT MOST?
At the lowest ebb of our life, at the moment when survival is no longer an option, when the last grain of hope is already gone and we feel that our last breath is about to expire, it is during that  moment that we can make the ultimate breakthrough in our life.

And when that happens, there will be no letting go and turning back. When we learn how to make a breakthrough, we can define and shape our own destiny. Success and happiness will be ours to take.

Join me in this journey of endless possibilities. Till next...

For Breakthrough Success,

JUN PRILA
